Spread the love

STOP. I wanna get off.

Until Covid-19 hit, many of us were living in an extremely fast-paced world.

Constantly fighting to maintain a good work/life balance, with the scales often swinging wildly from side to side.

Then, on March 11th 2020, Mother Nature ordered a stop to this chaos.

Through an announcement from WHO of a global pandemic.

As Covid-19 spreads across every continent, businesses, restaurants, bars, public spaces, borders, and airports are closing.

Events and public gatherings from football matches and concerts to weddings and funerals are being canceled.

And all of us are being asked to stay at home.

The breaks have well and truly been pulled on the wheel of life.

Some are able to work from home – albeit while juggling kids and competition for workspace.

While others, like the self-employed, are concerned about how they will pay next month’s bills.

Both situations are emotionally stressful so it’s vital we work to let go of the things we can’t control and focus on the things we can.

While we can’t control loss of work and closure to business and services, we can choose how we react and what we do about it.

First on the list is ourselves.

Step 1: Sustainable Self-Care

In my last blog, I promised to give you all the tools you needed to live a better life.

Sustainable self-care is number 1 on the list.

This will seem counterintuitive if, like me, you are always focused on others’ needs.

Kids, partners, friends, and coworkers.

If you are an obliger or empath you always want the best for others and find it difficult to give the best to yourself.

Well, now is the time!

Caring for ourselves, first and foremost, is essential to the health of our planet.

If you can’t love yourself, really you have no chance of really loving anyone else.

And this goes for the planet too.

How do I know? Because man, I have been to hell and back over the past few years and this whole Covid-19 crisis pales in comparison.

If you want to read about all the details of that and know more about me you can find that here.

Reset Challenge – Week 1: Breathe

So this week’s challenge for you is to switch off. I mean really switch off.

Get away from social media and the news around Covid-19.

Take a moment to stop and breathe.

Accept the way you feel right now. It’s OK to be angry or afraid.

Listen to your body and find small moments every day to treat yourself.

A cup of tea, starting a journal, meditation, an online yoga class or nothing at all.

Give your thinking mind a break and your body the love it deserves.

That’s it!

See you next week.
